So I was looking at Walmart tonight at the clearence section and saw a few of these spinning reels.I was curious if anyone here had used then much.I seen on the Internet they were regular 60-80$ and Walmart had them clearence for 20$.I mostly use baitcasters but I have been wanting a decent spinning reel for a little bit too.I'm curious please enlightened me on these cause I'm debating on whether I should go back out there thanks.I have a a cumara spinning rod I got at a flea market not too long ago that doesn't get much use. I have 2 of them, one on my dropshot rod, one on my wacky jig/shaky head rod. Great reels for the $. I paid full price for mine at TW which I think was $50. I have owned other reels in this price range, I won't name names, but un-like other reels in that range, the Shimanos have gotten smoother with use, and the drags are smooth and reliable. All with ZERO maint.

I would scoop them up for $20 in a heart beat. Mine have put more than a few 4-5 lb smallmouth in the boat, and several 5+ lb largemouth. I am not a big fan of spending big money on spinning reels, especialy not when a $50 Shimano has performed as well or better than I expected.
I just picked up these 2 reels today and was excited to open them up a few minutes ago. These are my first reels so I dont know exactly how to 'put them together' It comes with washers and a little paper that says the following; 'Please use the enclosed adjustment washers in order to create the 'winding shape' you prefer. The maffetone method ebook. Complete details for installing these washers and creating different 'winding shapes' are included in the instruction manual' Problem is. There isnt an instruction manual, for the 2500 or the 4000.

Any help with putting this together will be fantastic! The shims are used to adjust the height of the spool on the reel. This directly affects the winding shape of the line on the spool. If the line is stacking too high on the spool (towards the top) then you will need to add one or two shims. If the line is stacking too low on the spool then you will need to remove one or two shims. Typically the height is correct from the factory, however, we cannot predict the line that every angler will decide to use. Some line will not stack the same as another.

This is why we provide the shims to adjust the reel to your preference.
